I am a radio and television host at Crown Media, where I lead the Mtoto Imara program, focusing on mental health awareness and youth empowerment. With a background in clinical medicine I also serve as the founder of Wellness Within Hub, an NGO dedicated to mental health advocacy in Tanzania. My work allows me to inspire and equip young people with the knowledge and tools they need to manage their mental health and build resilience.
In the next 10-15 years, I aim to be a leading advocate for youth mental health across Africa and beyond influencing policy changes and expanding the reach of my organization. I also hope to continue using my media platform to raise awareness and foster community-based mental health solutions. My vision is to help thousands of young people become advocates for mental well- being in their communities.
As a survivor of depression, I founded Wellness Within Hub, an NGO dedicated to providing mental health resources for young people in Tanzania. I’ve also authored a book on mental health “7 mental health tips for students” , been featured by the United Nations, interviewed by BBC Swahili, and represented Eastern Africa at the Shape Africa Summit in 2024.
I’m passionate about advocating for mental health and youth empowerment, and I believe the AYAB platform can help me expand these efforts on a broader scale. The opportunity to collaborate with young leaders across Africa on policy reforms and community engagement aligns with my mission at Wellness Within Hub. I’m excited to bring my experience to AYAB and continue making an impact.
I believe in the transformative power of young people to drive change and create a more supportive society. My work is driven by the conviction that mental health support should be accessible to all, especially youth. I’m committed to building a culture of resilience and well- being across Africa through collaboration and education.
